As players progress, it’s important to start using terminology that they will be exposed to in VJBL, State and National programs. Here is a current map of floor spots used within the Cougars VJBL program:
Additional Terms: Sides of the Floor
“Strong side” or “ball side”: the same side of the court to where the ball is.
“Weak side”: the opposite side of the court to where the ball is.
“1st Side”, “2nd Side”, “3rd Side”: Used to describe phases of half-court offence according to when the ball is reversed. A team on the “3rd side” may have first tried to score on the right-hand-side, then reversed the ball to try and score from the left-side, and now has the ball on the right hand side again.
